Mario Botta is a Swiss architect, and that comes through clearly in these early ‘Shogun’ lamps. Manufactured by Artemide, c. 1986, these feel more like small architectural objects than traditional lighting.
The striped cylindrical bases give them real weight, while the curved perforated metal shades soften the aesthetic. Both the inner and outer metal shades are adjustable, allowing you to aim the light exactly where you want it. Sculptural when off, and downright awesome when on.
Fully marked examples, sold as a pair.
