Original leather lion footstool designed by Dimitri Omersa and retailed by Abercrombie & Fitch c. 1960s-70s. Handcrafted in England, this example features a beautifully aged golden-brown (cognac) leather hide with rich, natural patina throughout.
Constructed over a solid frame and traditionally stuffed, the lion is detailed with individually cut and applied leather fringe forming the mane, stitched facial features, shaped ears, and a tasseled tail.
Omersa animals were originally conceived as functional sculptural seating. Substantial enough to use as a footstool or ottoman, yet equally compelling as a decorative object. The scale allows it to live comfortably beside a lounge chair, in a library, at the foot of a bed, or as a statement piece in a children’s room or collected interior.
Leather shows age-appropriate wear with attractive tonal variation consistent with vintage examples. One leg’s internal mechanism is loose, remains functional. Measures 30.5” w x 13.5” d x 19” h.
